How to Create a Snapchat Private Story
Instead of using the Snap tab, you can create a new Private Story from your profile page. Here’s how it’s done:
Step 1. Launch the Snapchat application.
Step 2. Click the profile icon in the upper-left corner of the screen.
Step 3. In the My Stories section, tap the New Story button to start a new private story.
Step 4. Select New Private Story from the pop-up menu.
Step 5. Tap the box at the top to name your new private story, then choose one or more friends to share it with.
Step 6. Select Create Story.
Step 7. Add to the private story (located under My Stories).
Making a Private Story Using the Snap Tab
The Snap tab is the section of the app where you can use your device’s camera to take photos or record videos. Tap the circle in the bottom center of any tab to find it, or swipe left or right from the Conversations or Discover tabs.
Step 1. In the Snap tab, take a photo or record a video. (Upload a photo or video instead.)
Step 2. Tap Send To in the bottom right corner.
Step 3. Select +New Story > New Private Story from the drop-down menu.
Step 4. Your list of Recent, Groups, Best Friends and Friends is displayed. Choose which contacts you want to see your Private Story. (A blue checkmark appears alongside the profile photo of selected friends/groups. If you change your mind before proceeding to the next step of posting your Private Story, you can tap any selected friend/group to deselect them.)
Step 5. To post your Private Story, check the box.
Private Stories are distinguished from My Stories by a padlock icon. Friends who have access to your Private Stories will see them mixed in with My Stories (although on some Android devices, they may appear separately).
Making More Use of Private Stories
If you want to change your Private Story, you can do so from your profile. Tap the 3 vertical dots to the right of private story’s name. You can delete it, change the story settings, toggle the auto-save option on/off, or manually save the story to Memories from here (if auto-save is off).
Renaming a Private Snapchat Story
Step 1. Tap the three dots icon to the right of the private story you want to rename.
Step 2. Select Rename Story.
Step 3. After you’ve finished editing the story title, tap Done.
